| Amsterdam based Claartje Lindhout (1973) has worked as a chef since 2000. She was taught the art of cuisine by head chefs of many restaurants. Vermeer - which is awarded with a Michelin star - to name just one. With years of experience in professional kitchens, Lindhout now extends her profession and explores the visual side of gastronomy. Her intuitive conceptual thinking and cultural awareness form the base of her work as a food stylist and cookbook author. Her portfolio spans across a range of disciplines, boasting collaborations with a league of respected international photographers, artists and art directors. Her ability to adapt and apply herself according to specific briefs is reflected in the diversity of her publications, which range from art editorials in glossy magazines like Elle to commercial campaigns and packaging. Lindhout's strong narrative and understanding of the fashion and art industries, inject an extra layer into her work. Always willing to experiment and look beyond the obvious, one thing remains at the core: the love for food. |
